While Chinese technology giants like Huawei Technologies, Hikvision and SenseTime have had limited access to Western technology, the expansion of this so-called thing record to educational institutions signifies the Chinese equivalent of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology will today have a hit.
The thing list defines organizations or companies which need U.S. government approval prior to American technologies could be transferred or sold to them.
The problem surfaced last week after a screenshot of mails between HIT and Massachusetts-based applications programmer MathWorks went viral about social networking.
In reaction to some HIT consumer’s gripe about failed accessibility to some software which the university had bought, MathWorks advised the Chinese college it may no longer provide the merchandise because of a shift in U.S. policy.
