Can work to promote International peace: PM Modi on India's Entrance to UNSC as non-permanent member

“Deeply grateful for the overwhelming support shown from the international network for India’s membership of the UN Security Council. India will operate with all member countries to promote global peace, security, equity, and durability,” Modi said in a tweet.

His remarks came after India has been chosen to the Security Council with an overwhelming majority of 184 votes running on a platform of fighting terrorism and promoting the ethos of”Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” — that the world is4 1 family.

Wednesday’s elections took place against the background of the conflict in Ladakh with China, whom it’ll join about the Council in January.

New Delhi won the Asia Pacific seat to the UN’s highest decision-making body with the unanimous support of the states from the 55-member group, with China and Pakistan, at least publicly, conceding support in the face of an overwhelming backing for India in others.
